Andy Booth...

For those of you who don't know, I am a 43 year old musician hailing from Chesterfield in Derbyshire, father to a beautiful son, Jack, and the owner of an amazing company called "Andy Booth Presents". I started life as a theatre organist but quickly progressed onto Classical Piano. During that time though I played a lot of ragtime and boogie woogie to  try and strengthen my hands up. In fact, one of my favourite games (as I've been blessed by a phenomenal ear) was to emulate other pianists such as Winifred Atwell and Russ Conway and is something I still do on occasions for a party piece.

On moving to piano I achieved both Grade 5 and Grade 8 within an 18 month period thanks to my private piano teacher. I was even more fortunate during my school years as thanks to Pete Smith, my music teacher at Violet Markham School, I was encouraged in all facets of music and excelled at composition and arrangements. I even ended up conducting the junior, senior and staff choirs.

After leaving school, I tried university and ended up dropping out at the end of the first year. It was a particularly difficult time for me with my grandfathers ill health and not really loving music any more. However, I picked myself up and went into music teaching, which I enjoyed but wasn't really my main love.

After a nasty divorce and a period of depression I decided it was time to get back to doing what I loved the most, Music. In just over ten years I have conducted, arranged and played with most

of the big national orchestras in the UK, played abroad in some lovely places like Rome and even Carnegie Hall (New York), I've worked in musical theatre holding various posts including Musical Director for the re opening of the Crucible Theatre (Sheffield) and I currently hold the post of musical supervisor for the international children's tours of Peppa Pig, Ben and Holly and Octonauts amongst others.
I've been blessed to work with some wonderful people including Carly Paoli, Sam Womack, Andy Day (cbeebies), Ben Faulks (cbeebies), Sid Sloane (cbeebies), Tony Christie, Lance Ellington, Jonathan Ansell, Toyah Willcox, 'H' from Steps and even Bernie Clifton to name but a few. And of course, I have my Chorus and Pops Orchestra which are like one big family to me. It's an amazing experience to be on the stage with them performing.

When I'm not working, which does take up a lot of hours, I try to spend as much time as I can with my son who even now comes to the concerts to support his "Daddee". I'm a very lucky man and have experienced some wonderful things through music, I just hope I can bring that joy of music to others in the same way it has touched me.
